2nd price in Google's Android Challenge

iNap for Android has won the 2nd price in this years Google's Android Challenge in the category Travel. We are honored, and very happy that the users and jury liked our app.

Most of the money will be used towards funding the growth of our company. We are evolving from student-co-operation towards a full blown mobile app development & service company. The website will soon mirror this new image, and several projects currently in development will show that we mean business (expected release december-january).

Nice details: Google's mail announcing the winner ended up in our gmails spambox, we would not have noticed, if not for the many congratulations on Twitter. iNap for Android (available for free!) has now made us more than iNap for iPhone (99 cents). It probably has something to do with good karma!

'iNap: Arrival Alert' is now available for Android!

iNap, an innovative travel alarm which uses your phones GPS to warn you when you get near your destination, is now available in the Android Market! iPhone users have been taking quick naps on their daily commute for almost a year, and now Android adepts can do so too!

The iNap concept has received huge amounts of international press coverage, hitting magazines and websites like WIRED, Gizmodo, Technology Review (MIT), CNN, New York Times, all major mac & iphone blogs and many national newspapers. This has made Android users jealous, resulting in at least 1 mail a week asking us to port the app to their platform.
To award their patience & thank the early-adopters for their feedback, we will give away the app for free for a limited period of time.

Moop.Me
iNap: Arrival Alert for Android was developed by Menno Pruijssers (Moop.Me's newest member) with the help of Melvin Mughal. The release of this Android app defines marks Moop.Me as a cross-platform developer. Expect more Android apps soon!

Volkskrant (Dutch News)

Philip founded Jamoo.nl - a commercial, iPhone development focused company that will work closely together with Moop.Me. Its first production is Volkskrant. A news application for one of the largest newspapers in the Netherlands.

Volkskrant has rapidly become the number #1 application in Apple's Dutch appstore (yes, even surpassing our File Info (Dutch Traffic)) and has gotten a multitude of very positive reviews!

Lyric Temporary Offline

Lyrics is an adventure, and the last few days have been most hectic. Wired presented our easter-egg as a way to screw Apple, while we merely intended it as a services to our users. A small feature with large consequences.

We have also been talking with a few big guys in the music industry. While the LyricWiki.org database is obviously a treasure for music lovers, it is at the same time a menace to publishers. Apple will eventually close us down if we don't use proper sources. Today we have taken the first steps towards licensing our Lyrics.

The Lyrics application will be temporary offline while we make the necessary changes to our filter (will be much better, Apple will love it!) and take care of the licensing issues. We will be back, and not just on the iPhone.

Fool Apple?

Moop.Me hit WIRED. Again. While we do agree that Apples' reviewing methods are far from ideal, we would like to make a few notes.

- We love Apple. We are true Apple fanboys. We would never tell them to screw anything. This quote was from Wireds' editor, not us.

- While we do believe that certain people should be protected from objectionable content, we feel that ultimately this decision should be made by the user.

- Apple has some strange views on what is, and what isn't objectionable content. Hopefully this matter gets solved by some kind of store-wide rating tag.

- Lyrics pulls data from the LyricWiki.org database (not our website, but we love their work). We have been notified that one particular party has difficulties with this source. We will solve this matter as soon as possible.
